I know we’re all looking forward to having ‘rona behind us. Until then, let’s all stay informed!

San Diego Government Announcements:

  1. The county reported less than 200 COVID-19 cases for the first time since June.
  2. Until San Diego is taken off the county watch list, hair salons, gyms & nail salons are closed.
  3. Restaurants are closed for dining but are allowed to be open for takeout & delivery.
  4. As of today, the county has reported 5,100 cases.
  5. Travel outside of the country is difficult and travel to Mexico is banned until further notice.

How To Support San Diego Businesses:

Purchase a gift card from your favorite local businesses.

Many businesses are offering special deals and discounts for purchasing gift cards. If you’re excited to start using their services again once all this pandemic stuff is over, help them out! You might even save some money!
Order takeout!!

The restaurant business is taking a huge hit right now, and ordering takeout is a great way to support them while adhering to the shelter.

Many services like Doordash and Postmates offer “hands-off” delivery from your favorite places.

Take online classes businesses are offering.

Did you have a gym membership prior to the coronavirus pandemic? Even though they are closed, many of them offer online classes! Many other local businesses are offering coaching and educational courses. This is one of my personal favorites since I have so much time to kill!

Write Yelp Reviews.

Y’all this feels SO good! Make a list of everyone you want to support: hairstylists, personal trainer or gym, nail salon, favorite restaurants, your optometrist, chiropractor, and friends with businesses!

They will appreciate this SO much and you’ll feel amazing.

Following them on social media too.

Local businesses are always trying to grow their marketing reach and engage with their customers! Make sure to like their Facebook page, Instagram account, and like a few of their posts.

The little things go a LONG way!!

Businesses To Support In San Diego:

On to my favorite part – here’s all my favorite local business I’m supporting!

Heal Thy Goddess

Mo, the owner of this heavenly Facial Spa in Northpark has done wonders for my skin. She’s known for lymphatic drainage and anti-gravity lift facials that have made my jawline reappear! She’s offering 15% off gift cards right now with code SELFCARE.

Le Fleur

Skip the grocery store if you’re looking for flowers!! Christina handmakes and delivers customized, affordable Fresh Rose Boxes. DM her Instagram to place an order!

This health lounge offers incredible personalized naturopathic medicine which includes IVs and Vitamin Shots. Not feeling too hot but don’t have any COVID-19 symptoms? Give this local health clinic a call.

I highly recommend the Detox Full Bag and Sparkle and Glow IV! Thank me later 🙂 Their number is (858) 228-4188.

Parakeet Cafe

This is my favorite cafe in North County! Be sure to order a Tumeric Latte to boost immunity and the avocado toast + an egg on top. They offer online orders and you can also order something from them through Doordash and Grubhub with a touchless delivery!

Leucadia Pizza

This local chain has the BEST pizza & tortellini in all of the US if you ask me. They are currently offering curbside pickup and delivery. This is perfect for a date night in or pizza cravings that need more than something the frozen pizza section. Just saying.

THREE: Tips For Staying Safe & Healthy During COVID-19

Clean and Disinfect Frequently Touched Surfaces:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends cleaning AND disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes surfaces such as, tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

To disinfect:
The most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work. So use disinfectants appropriate for the surface.

Options include:

  • Diluting your household bleach.
To make a bleach solution, mix:
  • 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water
    OR
  • 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
Clean your hands often:

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, it’s essential to know how to properly wash your hands. Not going to lie, I didn’t know how to do this properly until someone told me!

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

Keep your distance:

Obviously, this is one of the most important ones. Avoid close contact with people who are sick, are immunocompromised or have been traveling. So as someone who is immunocompromised, please, please, please take into consideration the larger effects of your actions on public safety!

I just read about a 25-year-old from Riverside county (not far from San Diego) that died from coronavirus and had no underlying health conditions, so we should all follow the government’s guidelines 🙂

Stay tuned for more posts on fun projects to do at home, recipes and all the best loungewear to stay comfy during this phase. We’re all in this together!
