Ocean views, bottomless Aperol spritzes, a menu inspired by the coastal life in Sardinia & an atmosphere that makes you think really are in Italy. Sounds too good to be true, right?
I’m talking about San Diego’s only al fresco speakeasy, Garibaldi! It’s relatively new and still a hidden gem in downtown San Diego. At first, I didn’t want to share this place too much since it has become our weekly Sunday brunch spot.
I posted a few IG stories our first time here & received so many messages, DM’s, and texts asking for the details. I feel so bad keeping it from you all – so here’s the tea!
The Best Secret Brunch Spot in San Diego
Garibaldi is tucked away inside the Intercontinental Hotel on the third floor. To get in, you’ll need to walk to the back of the lobby and find the concierge, then look to the right and find the bright orange menu! THAT is your only way to get in.
Stand by the menu and someone will come out to seat you!
They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is covered with artwork like the garibaldi fish pictured above! It’s beautiful inside, but the outdoor patio is really magical!
As you are guided to the patio you’ll walk by their rooftop garden, used for many of their dishes. I feel like my Italian Grandma would approve of this 🙂
If you can, get a table along the back bar! You’ll have an unobstructed view of the bay.
Let’s get into the brunch menu!
The artichoke dip and fig toasts are new on the menu and we loved them! Either is the perfect brunch appetizer.

The drink menu is phenomenal. Obviously you can’t go wrong with bottomless Aperol spritzes and prosecco, but the cocktails are TO DIE FOR.
The Caprera Island Cocktail is the perfect Italian beach club drink + the glass it’s served in is imported from artists in Sardinia. Check out the cute little blue guy above.

For our mains, we wanted something eggy. If that’s not your thing check out the menu above! The limoncello pancakes looked amazing too!

We did try the cheesecake for dessert since the server recommended it and OMG. The first time we ordered it, it came with blood oranges and the second time we came it had with black cherries – both were bomb.

After Tim took the first bite, he half-jokingly said he would fight me for the rest of it, ha! Crying laughing at this pic I took right after he said it lol!
Overall, the perfect brunch spot and I’m so happy we have a little slice of Italy right here in our city!
