The Best Airbnb in Arizona

Good morning! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen that I was in Tucson last month. My best friend (also named Katie 🙂 ) and I were dying to have some girl time and getaway. We did a ton of research on the best way to spend the weekend together and found the best Airbnb in Arizona in the remote areas of Tuscon. We packed up my car for the six-hour drive into the Arizona desert and as I’m sure you can imagine, we were excited.

The drive from San Diego was beautiful and peaceful. We stopped a couple of times for Starbucks and minimized our interaction with other people. We eventually got to Tuscon and stopped for groceries + coffee and fell IN LOVE with the city!

After grabbing our supplies, we journeyed through the winding roads of the Seguaro National Forest in complete AWE. I was not prepared for how stunning the rolling hills, saguaros & the desert blooms would be! I wanted to take pictures every five minutes haha!

Once we made it to the Posada House, we forgot about the 104-degree heat and were SO excited to check out every single inch of the space. Y’all it was insane. Let’s get into it!

Review of the Best Airbnb in Arizona:

Now for the review of the resort! We stayed at The Joshua Tree House’s Posada location in the Ocotillo Suite. The resort has 5 separate suites and I believe more are being renovated!

We chose the Ocotillo Suite because it had two separate bedrooms and a shared kitchen. The bathroom was also a selling point! See below for photos so you can get a feel for what it looks like.

Here’s my full review of The Joshua Tree House in Tuscon:(P.S. This specific location is called the Posada House!)

Room:

As I mentioned above, we stayed in the Ocotillo Suite. The room was INSANE – it’s located in the center of the resort and has direct access to the rooftop deck with a view of the pool, access to the yoga room, and the perfect spot to view the sunset!

Our room had a fridge, two large TVs (with AppleTV!), a full kitchen, a fridge, a hot plate, an indoor shower, and beautiful views of the Seguaro National Forest. It was also one of the most comfortable rooms I’ve ever stayed in – the attention to detail was like nothing we had experienced before. The linen bed sheets, Tobacco & Teak room spray, & ergonomic pillows made for the best nights sleep we’ve ever had. We still talk about the linen sheets!

The owners also left us local coffee beans and a pour-over. Five stars in my book :)As you can imagine, the desert was hot, but the air conditioning worked great, and our room felt like such an oasis!!! One other really cool thing about the rooms is the unique style the owners created. They also published a book because so many people asked them how to replicate the style!

Our room had access to the rooftop deck with sun chairs and a dining area – which we had dinner at every night! The sun desk was open to other people staying in the resort, but we didn’t end up having to share it with anyone else.

One night we popped open a bottle of rose and watched the sunset.

The Joshua Tree House amenities

Amenities:

  • The pool at the Posada House was incredibly beautiful – red rocks, teal water, and close access to a fire pit, BBQs, & sun chairs. Even though this was a communal part of the property, we really didn’t see much of other people. We brought an inflatable raft down the pool and relaxed for hours. We also saw a local owl that came by the pool at the same time every night. SO cute!

  • The communal kitchen also MUST be mentioned!! The architecture and design are unique and unmatched. We didn’t get the chance to cook in here, but plan to go back and use it!
  • The communal living room is a great place to take pictures for design inspo and watch movies, read, and nap! Naps are very important in the desert 🙂
  • The yoga room is located upstairs and is so gorgeous! It has plenty of space for multiple people, provides yoga mats, blankets, and has a fireplace. We didn’t use it but definitely will when we go back.
  • The property grounds are stunning! There is a trail to the right of the resort that leads you to a maze in the Seguaro National Forest. It’s a quick walk and so beautiful!
  • The hot spring is actually located by the entrance to the resort. It’s very clean and private!

Food:

inside the Best Airbnb in Arizona

The resort provides coffee, popcorn, and granola for guests, but like most Airbnbs, you need to bring your own food. Katie found some amazing grocery markets in Tucson that we grabbed our supplies from:
  1. Time Market – We bought tons of organic veggies, grass-fed beef, local cheeses & enough food to last us three days. We also ordered Caprese paninis from the deli and highly recommend them!
  2. Barrio Bread– This cute shop in downtown Tucson is an award-winning bread bakery and it was the best bread we’ve ever had, hands down. If you go, make sure to get the Communal Loaf and the Foccacia.

    Activities:

There were a lot of activities to do in Tuscon! Since we went in the middle of the pandemic we stuck by the resort most of the time, but there are lots of hikes, viewpoints, and tours of Tuscon that we wanted to do next time!
If you like photography, the resort will keep you entertained for days.

    Transportation:

We drove into Tuscon and not going to lie it was easier than I expected 🙂 The resort is about 30 minutes outside of Tuscon, so you could definitely fly into the city and catch an Uber to the property. I loved how remote the property felt, but was very easy to get to.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend The Posada House!! It would make the PERFECT place for a bachelorette party, family reunion, girl’s trip, or just a romantic getaway. It’s such a unique experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else. It tends to book out 3-4 months in advance, so plan early!
