Hotel Review for the Cassara in Carlsbad

We’ve really been all about staycations lately and discovering little gems in our neighborhood this year. Our latest adventure took us up north to Carlsbad to experience a hotel that really made us feel like we left California – in the best way! This Hotel review for the Cassara in Carlsbad will give you everything you need to know about staying at the resort!

The Cassara Tapestry Collection by Hilton is an absolutely stunning property in a prime location for anyone in Nothern San Diego, or Flower Field & Lego Land visitors.

I also heard that the property had an absolutely gorgeous lobby area, perfect for an evening cocktail and picture taking! There was so much more though that caught my eye once I arrived!

Hotel Review For The Cassara in Carlsbad

Location

The Cassara is right off HWY 5 and a couple of lights past the HWY exit and it’s right behind the Flower Fields! It’s a little under a thirty drive from downtown San Diego.

Amenities

The pools (yes, POOLS) are one of the biggest draws to the hotel. There are multiple pools – some for lap swimming, for families, and for adults too. The lap pool and jacuzzi right off the lobby have access to a beach bar that serves amazing wine! It wasn’t too crowded but still felt like the place to be.

The Ocean Pearl Spa is stunning and offers a variety of facials and massages + offers access to a fitness center, Vitamin C showers, eucalyptus saunas, and lockers. The Coola facial was lovely and well-suited for a day spent in the sun!

If you’re a golfer, you’re in luck! The Crossings at Carlsbad golf course is a short distance from the hotel, and a free shuttle will take you to and from. The course is over 400 acres and has breathtaking ocean views!

Last but not least, we cannot forget The Flower Fields! They are right outside the hotel and 100% worth checking out. They are open seasonally, so make sure to stop by in April or May. Since the Cassara is so close to the attraction, they often run specials offering two entrance tickets!

You do need to drive around the corner to park at the Flower Fields entrance but it’s less than two minutes away! I wouldn’t recommend walking as there’s a really busy street.

Rooms

We stayed in an oceanfront room on the second floor with a view of the Fields. The interior was gorgeous and had an eclectic yet modern decor vibe with tile inspired by the streets of Lisbon.

The wallpaper behind the bed was so pretty and gave the room a very chic touch. Perfect for taking photos of your brunch spread or cute pics with the girls.

Restaurant

Inside the lobby is the Cassara Kitchen and Bar. It extends out to the pool and has incredible pizzas and cocktails! We loved the Margarita Pizza and the seasonal Hibiscus Sour (inspired by the Flower Fields!)

A San Diego favorite – Karl Strauss, is right outside the property within walking distance! If you haven’t been, the restaurant is a must-stop! It’s the perfect place to grab beers, watch a game, and order appetizers.

My Impressions On The Sands Hotel & Spa

What I Like About The Sands Hotel & Spa:

The amenities are top-notch. The pool and restaurant are worth the trip out to the hotel and staying for a weekend. It’s super affordable for what you’re getting and is just as nice as the resorts down the street in La Quinta.

You can easily see how much effort went into each and every detail of the guest rooms.

I also loved having free wifi, air conditioning + photo ops.

Overall Review

I would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway with great food & drinks. We met so many people from out of state who flew in just for the hotel & honestly, I would do the same, ha!

The experience of the hotel was so unique it felt like we packed a week-long vacation into one weekend. Best use of my credit card!

Would you go?
